What Is A Ceramic Paint Coating And Why Use It?

Gtechniq is a leader in ceramic coatings

First, lets start off by saying, wax is dead. It’s an old technology that has been far surpassed by new and better products, such as sealants and ceramic coatings. Ceramic coatings can last anywhere from 6 months to 10 years depending on the coating used. Waxes will typically last about a month or two tops. Sealants claim that they can last up to a year, but getting a year is not always possible or easy to do. Ceramic coatings have a lot of benefits that waxes and sealants cannot provide.

Oxidized Paint also known as clear coat failure. This would need a repaint to repair

  • Ceramic coatings bond securely to the paint using nano technology and takes over in being the functioning layer of the paint, instead of the existing clear coat.

  • Coatings are much harder than the clear coat on your car. This means that it will be much more protected against those horrible scratches from washing, also known as swirl marks.

  • This ceramic layer is going to protect the clear coat from UV rays and helps to prevent fading, helps prevent contaminants from bonding to the paint causing oxidation, helps keep the paint cleaner for longer due to non-stick like properties, makes the vehicle easier and faster to clean, helps protect against water spots etching into the clear coat, protects against bird droppings etching into the clear coat, and more!

  • The smoothness and shine that coatings provide are unmatched from any wax or sealant. When you have a ceramic coating installed you no longer need to wax your car, saving you time and money. Can you imagine not having to wax your vehicle for 5 years or more?!

Traditional clear coats typically have a half life of about 5 years for UV protection. Also the primer coat, base coat, and clear coat is about as thick as a post it note, combined. It is so important to keep up on clear coat to prevent fading and especially clear coat failure which would need a repaint to fix. So if you have a new car, it is best to get it coated right away to, extend the life of your paint, help retain it’s value, and keep it looking it’s best. What if you have an older car and the paint is starting to look dull? This is also a great option for those vehicles. With the right steps such as polishing to remove swirls, oxidation, and bringing back the shine, the coating will still bond to the clear coat and give you lasting protection from further swirls and fading. There is never a bad time to get a ceramic coating installed, unless the clear coat has already failed
